In case you missed the announcement this past week, the land at the corner of Eagle and Fairview has been purchased.
In an environment of a lot of negative real estate press, some good news came through last week. CenterCal Properties has a huge mixed-use development planned for the NE Corner to include retail, residential, entertainment and office space. The first portion is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2010.
When so many commercial projects have been halted, it's nice to hear that one is going forward and will provide a number of new shopping and entertainment venues to the residents of the very fast growing Meridian. I have seen a number of these retail centers be very successful in other states in which I've lived, and I hope that this will help the economy of Meridian, the values of homes increase again and provide a number of jobs for the residents of the Treasure Valley.
In addtion to the retail, etc, there will be a 60 acre park on the 89 acre parcel of land. This will help get many of our construction professionals back to work and should help stimulate our economy.
