Are you buying the best possible new home?
Main / Idaho Real Estate Insights

If not, let the builder keep it!

I was at a great presentation by S. Robert August from Washington sponsored by the Southwest Idaho Building Contractors Association last night. One of the points he was making to the builders was that if they were not constantly improving their product and building the best possible home their prospective clients would gladly let them keep it.

That is great informtion for builders and the consumer in this highly competitive market. If you don't believe the home is made to the highest quality, has great amenities and is designed very well, let the builder keep it! If it is not verfiably energy efficient, let the builder keep it! If it is not competitively priced- let the builder keep it.

That goes for the developer as well. If the community does not seem well designed, does not have amenities (Note: a waterfall and an fancy name are not emenitites), are not competitively priced- let the developer keep the lots.

Great post..
Buyers should note that even if construction is new, they NEED to get a good independent home inspection.

One warning is be very careful if your agent steers you to an inspector. Detail oriented inspectors are often 'blacklisted' by agents. Don't believe me...listen to this Meridian agent rant about a home inspector who was too aggresive (Pam's comment #3)
