Is your Realtor afraid?
Main / Market News & Insights

For years realtors were in control but as more information is made available realtors either embrace this revolution or see themselves as irrelavant.

Zillow, Terabitz, ZipRealty,  Redfin and other sites including BuildingCredibility.com have enough to give users more of a one-stop site for real estate shopping than ever before. While some real estate companies still see themselves as the gate keeper to information, which is how they believe they will stay in buisiness, others are sharing their information.

I think in the world we live in realtors would do everything they can to market their clients property but just recently a local brokerage did not want their listings displayed on BuildingCredibility.com. Actulally, they did, but wanted any leads that this site produced handed to them. Of course they did not want to pay for them so we agreed to disagree I think.

Here is a articel in the NY Times about real  estate information super highway.

I hope that brokerage clients don't find out that they do not want their homes marketed on alternate websites. If your homes are not being marketed on this site, ask your broker to contact me. If they do not want to, ask questions.

Re:Is your Realtor afraid?
First of all I would like to point out that I am not the Brokerage that this article is talking about; I am writing this as an unbiased observer.
I would agree that it is important for a real estate brokerage to give their clients the most exposure possible when contracted to sell their home, but I think it is a little self serving to insinuate that a brokerage does not serve its customers properly because they refuse to advertise on one web site or the other, where does it end, with over 500 web sites available for an online home search, what percentage of a real estate brokerages income is expected to be spent on advertising 100%,75%,50%?. A real estate brokerage is like any other business, you have overhead and the costs associated with doing business with a budget to follow. The smart money is spent on the best return for the buck. For a real estate brokerage, the return is getting your clients house sold. How many houses have sold due to this web site? I would like to hear from some Realtors. Are you getting a return for your money on this web site? Go ahead and ask your broker why they are afraid, maybe it's not fear, but a well managed advertising budget that will obtain results.

Re:Is your Realtor afraid?
To display lisitngs on this site, BuildingCredibility.com (BC) needs a form signed by the broker authorizing BC to receive a feed from the Idaho MLS. This is a free service on the site. BC also displays community profiles at no charge. Lastly, if you are a builder BC lists your company as part of that community at no charge.

If you would like to display your listings, add your name as a builder to communities you are building in or add a profile of your community call Trey @ 562-3667 or email Trey@BuildingCredibility.com.

Re:Is your Realtor afraid?
I guess I dont understand the argument made on your blog regarding the brokerage not wanting to pay for leads, if it is free anyway. Steve

Re:Is your Realtor afraid?
I can only say that the Boise broker did not want to display their listings if inquiries did not go to them. Of course, they did not want to pay for inquiries given to them. Trey
