The Value of Just one Energy Star Light Bulb
Main / Building Value into Boise Real Estate

While reading the Editors Notes in the current addition of Builder Magazine last night I came across a staggering statistic.

According to the EPA and the Department of Energy, “If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an Energy Star qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent green-house gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.”

All of this from one EStar light bulb?!! Are you serious?!! If you are like me you will read this paragraph over 20 times and still find it hard to believe, but I do.

Now just think of the massive impact every Energy Star home has on the plant (Energy Star homes are required to have at least 50% of the light bulbs in the home be EStar bulbs, amongst a variety of other energy efficient elements).

Let’s take it a step further – what about the Energy Star homes that are built with sustainable and durable practices? How about those built with green materials or even go as far as getting their homes certified green by NAHB or LEED? Just think about how much these homes contribute to their homeowners health and the environment.

Thank you to all of those builders and developers who are going the extra mile to increase the quality of life through advanced technology and building practices.

Re:The Value of Just one Energy Star Light Bulb
We are testing out an LED lightbuld in one of our model homes that diffuses light very well. This light will last "forever" and uses far less energy than even the CFL's. Now we just need them to become more affordable!
