The on and off of tax credits
Main / The Durable Home

So the federal tax credit for high performance homes ( 50% better than the 2004 IECC-this is higher performance than just energy star ) to the builder will expire on January 1 2009.

why this happens  yearly and they can't implement a credit for several years is beyond me, not that I think tax credits in the long run do alot of good, they do get people moving in the right direction especially when the economy is lacking. There was a record number of tax credit homes certified last year across the nation 23,702 homes to be  exact!! wow! incredible. And this took place  during the slow down of home building across the US! non in Idaho to my knowledge have been certified, you can check with the energy department since they are the certification entity in the state of Idaho that oversees the tax credit process. More information can be found on www.natresnet.org or www.energystar.gov
