Healthy landscaping
Main / The Durable Home

I wanted to say Green landscaping, but I think Green is being used for everyones buzz word and there is not allot of definition of what it actually means. this landscape company focuses on healthy, non toxic landscape maintence....

sustainable Growth Lindsay Schramm www.sustainablegrowth.com really educated me on what it takes to create a healthy landscape and why I was having problems with the plants and turf at my house. I have drought tolerant turf, plants and drip irrigation but I was still over watering, some due to my ignorance and some  due to the necessity to build a healthy soil. I wont try to tell what they do in fear of sounding like a complete idiot, but the rebuild the soil, and the micro-organisms in the soil so that things decompose  the way they are supposed to.  plus the treat and fertilize  the solid with organic products that are safe for kids and animals. Sure you can buy the products from Zamzows or other places, but me? I did not know what to do with the products or how to apply it , nor did I have enough time to learn and apply it anyway. then when I added the numbers together I figured I spent as much doing it myself last year as I am spending this year to have Lindsay who really knows what the plants need do it for me. THANK YOU SUSTAINABLE GROWTH. I am looking forward to a healthy landscape and knowing when and how to water my yard. Call them, you will be impressed!!!

Re:Healthy landscaping
If you're going to invest the time and energy to create eco-friendly landscape, make certain you also give attention to designing landscape that increases the security of a home. Features like pebble pathways reduce the need for water and the noise made when walking on them deters unwanted visitors. Well pruned shrubs and greenery is healthier and allows neighbors to watch out for each other.

Re:Healthy landscaping
Great comment, a bennefit I had not thought of. See by working together we can all accomplish so much more! Also the design can play a significant role in maintanence and watering needs. picking the right plants, locating in the right areas, composting and adding mulch to reduce watering needs, using drought tollerant turff, shading hardscapes, using the right watering methods, coverage, presure regulators, rain sensors--- what about all these fountains you see? we did some testing last year on high energy usuage homes--the results of some of these test? there are some huge energy PIGS OUT THERE! one is pond pumps, why not use a solar pump if you need to have a pond? Keep up the comments.
