A Comparative Look
Main / Idaho Real Estate Insights

2006 is tracking similar to where we were in 2004 total permits YTD. Are we back on track for normal growth?

Permit YTD Comparison.gif

Year to Date Ada County permits are just shy of 2004 permit numbers while Canyon County has shown growth. Treasure Valley continues to draw new residents of course, and is continuously in the news as the place to live, work, play, and invent. Share your forecaste opinions and insights below!

Re:A Comparative Look
I believe that after first quarter 2007 we will be back on track. This is the first time in quite a while that our market is reacting similiar to the national market, it will be interesting to see how that transpires. Boise is still a great place to live, work, play as that previous post pointed out. Additionally, it is still very appealing to buy here compared to other markets.

Re:A Comparative Look
Looking at permits for sales growth at this point is ignorant! It is painfully obvious there were to many homes built in 2006 given the demand, or should I say lack there of. Bottom line is everyone projected growth inacurately this year including Corey Barton, the combination of interest rates rising quickly and excess development and construction fueled the slowing market. As the last person said since when did anyone think our local market would behave in a similar pattern as the rest of the nation. Yes it will pick back up, however I think you will see hesitation among developers and builders in the market for 2007.
