Acreage It Is...
Main / Boise Lots and Land The Dirt on Treasure Valley

Apparently, lots of land is important to the men out there...I'd like to know what the women think.

                              OR

Based on last weeks blog responses, the men seem to want acreage...Now, there was one anonymous response - no idea if that was a man or a woman, but I do think it's interesting that the preference was lots of land. And the majority if not all of the respondants were men.

I agree with all of you, that in Idaho, we have beautiful land. We are a state of outdoor enthusiasts, and we hate to feel crowded. I'm a city girl at heart...yes, I'll admit it. Before coming to Idaho, I lived in mostly metropolitan areas, so to me, the thought of living on acreage is scary! For the first 6 months of living here, I thought it was too quiet at night - I missed the sounds of airplanes, ambulances and the dull roar of traffic. Anyone else ever experience this? I flat out couldn't sleep!! Even after six years here, I still miss the bustle and sounds of the city.

My husband is an Idahoan though, and he loves his space. He's with you guys...ideally, he'd like to live on acreage. Me...give me infill anyday; I like my neighbors close. I like knowing that if my dogs get out, they'll let them back in for me. I like knowing that if I'm out of town for a weekend, my neighbor is keeping an eye on my house. I love to borrow a cup of sugar, have a block party bbq, talk across the fence and see the kids playing basketball in my cul-de-sac as the sun sets.

I was actually kind of surprised by last weeks responses, just because I look at things differently. So now I'm even more curious...Ladies - acreage or neighborhoods? Is it just me, or is this maybe a gender thing?

Re:Acreage It Is...
Kit,

Not this man. I'm with you. Both my Grandfathers were farmers and as kids we used to spend almost every weekend on the farm while my Dad helped Grandpa. Both my brothers who live in the Chicago area have large yards and spend a lot of their "free" time mowing, edging, weeding, fertilizing, etc. I didn't inherit that "farming" gene. Don't get me wrong. I love the outdoors. I just hate yardwork. That's why I live in a condo in Hidden Springs.
