Want to Really Stimulate the Economy?
Main / Boise Home Builder

Have you decided how you're going to spend your one-time tax rebate to help stimulate the economy? Here's how you can double the value of your rebate and, in the process, create almost $150,000 in local income and over $13,000 in taxes and other revenue for local governments.

The Federal government started depositing economic stimulus checks into the bank accounts of direct deposit taxpayers last Monday April 28th and will start mailing paper checks next week. The one-time tax rebate payments are up to $600 for an individual and $1,200 for a couple, with an extra $300 for each dependent child. The hope is that consumers will spend this money to stimulate our economy.

If you shop at Wal-Mart, you will be able to cash your stimulus checks at the company's stores where you could use it to buy everyday needs like groceries or clothing. You could take your economic stimulus and/or tax refund check to Albertsons where, if you purchase Albertsons gift cards in $300 increments up to $1,200, Albertsons will add an extra $30 for every $300 you spend. Sears will also give you a bonus of 10 percent if you spend your entire rebate on a gift card for use at Sears, Kmart or Lands' End stores. Or you could use it to purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs and Energy Star appliances at Home Depot and receive a discount turning your short-term stimulus into a long-term investment. But how much of your tax rebate spent at Wal-Mart or Albertsons or Sears or Home Depot will stay in Boise to help stimulate our local economy?

According to a study commissioned by the Building Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho conducted by the National Association of Home Builders Economics Department, the construction of one new single-family home in the Boise-Nampa, ID MSA $148,603 in local income and $13,336 in taxes and other revenue for local governments. Not only that, the annual recurring local economic impact of your new home includes $29,001 in local income and $3,747 in taxes and other revenue for local governments. Talk about an economic stimulus!

So if you're thinking about building a new home or remodeling your existing home and would like to use your tax rebate to really help stimulate our local economy, forget the extra 10% being offered by Albertsons and Sears. Forget about purchasing compact fluorescent bulbs or Energy Star appliance for your existing home. Chuck Miller Construction Inc. will give you a credit of 100% of the value of your economic stimulus / tax refund check toward the cost to design and build your new comfortable, healthy, durable, energy and resource efficient home or remodeling project. Not only will your new Chuck Miller Construction home or remodel stimulate the local economy for years to come, it will also save you hundreds of dollars a year in energy bills.
